We are proud to announce that Dr. Maciej Białasek, a member of Professor Magdalena Król’s research team, has been awarded the 2026 Pfizer Research Prize in Oncology. 

The award was presented for his contribution to the development of the Macrophage-Drug Conjugate (MDC) platform – an innovative approach based on macrophage reprogramming for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme. Studies have demonstrated potent antitumor activity, activation of the immune response, and a favorable safety profile in preclinical models, highlighting the high translational potential of this technology. 

The awarded work was carried out collaboratively with Dr. Tobias Weiss and Dr. Miaomiao Sun and was published in Science Translational Medicine:
